  Enhancing Safety and Security

As part of government’s commitment to enhancing the safety and security of visitors and employees in government buildings, security improvements are continuing to be implemented, including access to buildings and use of employee IDs and visitor passes. This brochure is designed to help you understand these improvements .

 Visitor Passes

Effective October 28, 2002 visitor pass protocols will be implemented in the Confederation Complex.

All visitors to the Confederation Complex will be required to sign in and out at a security desk, located in the main lobbies of the East (A)* and West Blocks (E)*, and obtain a visitor pass to be used for the duration of their visit. *(See diagram inside

Once a visitor pass has been obtained, security will direct the visitor to their destination, if required. Visitors to the West Block are required to use the main entrance (E). Visitors to the East Block can use the main entrance (A), or the northeast entrance (B) at the back of the building.

Entrances (C) and (E) are accessible to persons who are mobility impaired. At entrance (C), visitors will notify security of their presence through a video-intercom monitor located in the entrance foyer. Once notified, security will come to the foyer and admit the visitor (and persons accompanying them) into the building.

Government employees visiting the Confederation Complex from other government buildings will be required to show security their regular government photo ID before proceeding to their destination within the building and will have to wear their ID for the length of their visit.
