  4. How long is the ID good for?

The ID is issued to permanent and long-term temporary employees for a maximum period of five years; however any distinguishable changes in appearance may require a new card to be issued. Students, contract and short-term temporary employees receive ID cards based on their contract period, or as requested by the department.

  5. What do I do if my ID card is lost or stolen?

If you lose your electronic photo ID, immediately report the loss to security at 729-5096. Then report your lost card to your departmental Human Resources Director who will then facilitate obtaining a replacement ID with the Department of Transportation and Works.

Lost ID cards will be replaced two business days after receiving the Loss or Theft of Employee ID Card form. Should the ID card be found prior to the replacement being issued, contact the ID Co-ordinator to have the card reinstated.

  10. If I work outside St. John’s, how do I get an ID card?

Areas outside St. John’s are normally traveled to at least once a year,
    and biannually to Labrador.

The "Request for Employee Identification Card Form" is available from this site. Each employee requiring an ID in an office should be listed on the form. When the form is returned, it will be filed with all other requests for ID cards in that region until there are a sufficient number of employees in the region to justify a trip. Once the trip is planned, the offices will be notified.

Any employee traveling to St. John’s should contact the ID Co-coordinator and every effort will be made to schedule an appointment.

Any Department planning a meeting, seminar or conference, should contact the ID Coordinator; if there are sufficient employees to justify a trip, arrangements can be made to have photos taken at the site of the meeting, seminar or conference.
